My eco capsule make up bag
My favourite eco make up products on a budget
Here’s what’s in my eco capsule make up bag, in my bathroom right now. Honed down over the last few years to these essential, multi-tasking, high performers:
Mineral powder foundation
This stuff is perfect for the eco babe in a rush. Applies flawlessly in seconds, 100% natural, improves skin health as you wear it, and acts as a concealer, foundation and finishing powder in one. What’s not to love? See my post Mineral Powder Foundation for problem skin for more info.
My favourite at the moment is Inika Mineral Powder Foundation which has the pale shades I need and Inika is my favourite green make up brand because of it’s impressive green credentials and multi-award winning products. See clean and green beauty directory for more info.
Eye Shadow Palette
If you find one with the right colours for you, an eyeshadow palette can not only do you for a range of eye day to night looks, but can also be used for eyeliner, eyebrow powder, and in the case of my favourite palette, contouring. My go-to palette is the Dr Hauschka Eye Palette, only four colours, but so many possibilities!
Multi-tasking lip and cheek product
Ok, so I don’t actually have one of these right now, but it is the perfect addition to the eco make up bag. Apart from the obvious money saving aspect, using the same colour on your cheeks and lips gives your make up a chic, pulled together look. If you gets shades of blusher and lipstick that don’t quite work together your make up can look ‘off’, and no one wants that. Alternatively, you can just use your lipstick on your cheeks (a key trend for 2017) or your cream blush on your lips. A product I’ve heard rave reviews about from multiple sources is RMS lip2cheek – on my wish list!
A make up essential I think you’ll agree. You can get lots of eco mascaras these days that perform really well. My favourite at the moment is Origins Ginzing Brightening Mascara, for the ‘feathery’ look it gives my lashes (in between a natural and a dramatic look), and the subtle blue pigments that apparently make your eyes look brighter – not sure if that works but I love the idea of it! I also like the bareMinerals mascaras.
Thats it! These are the products I use everyday. Sometimes I add a highlighter (but if you have a shimmery light eyeshadow in your palette, as so many do, you can use that). I find these basic products do for a multitude of looks and save you money and space on the bathroom shelf.
